Monkey Mart Guide: What to Build First and How the Product Chain Works
Published · 3 min read
Monkey Mart never tells you what to build next; it puts a green arrow on the ground with a price under it. Stand on the spot, your cash drains into it, and when the number hits zero the thing appears. So the real question is which arrow to feed first. This guide walks the first store from the opening 350 cash to a shop that runs without you.
The first ten minutes
You start with 350 cash and two empty planters. The first arrow costs 100 and builds the checkout counter, the second costs 200 and builds the banana shelf, and the banana trees come after that. Do them in that order. A shelf with nothing on it earns nothing, but a register with nothing to sell is worse: customers pick up a product, walk to the counter and stand there until somebody serves them, and the queue is where your money actually appears.
Once the trees are in, walk up to them and stop. The monkey picks bananas as long as you stand still, and they stack on its head. Walk to the shelf and it unloads the same way. The stack has a cap, so when the pile stops growing, go. Then stand at the register: each customer pays, the bills land on the counter, and walking across them picks them up. Early on this three-stop loop is the game.
Crops come before machines
Every product line starts with something you grow or collect and, later, something a machine turns it into. Bananas are sold as they are. Corn is grown the same way and also feeds the chickens, whose eggs are the next product. Peanuts get their own trees and later a machine that grinds them into peanut butter. Coffee beans go through a grinder; wheat goes through a mill for flour and then an oven for bread; the cows give milk that later feeds the yogurt and ice-cream machines; cocoa becomes chocolate. Each new line adds a planter or animal, a shelf, and eventually a machine, and each arrow costs more than the last.
The trap is unlocking a new crop while the old shelf is still empty half the time. When you buy a crop, buy its shelf next, and do not touch a third line until both are stocked. Machines are worth it as soon as you can afford them: a processed product sells for more than the raw crop it eats.
When to hire
The two icons at the top right are your upgrade menus: the monkey icon upgrades you (Boots of Speed, stack height), the hat icon is the staff menu. Hire the cashier first; the register is the one job that cannot be skipped, and a cashier hands that time back to picking and stocking. Workers come next: each is assigned to a crop and carries it to the shelf on a loop, with its own speed and capacity upgrades. A cashier, one worker per shelf and a fast monkey keep earning while you stand at the newest arrow.
What gems are for
Gems are the blue counter next to your cash. They come from the reward buttons and milestones, not from customers, and they buy the shortcuts: a boost to worker stats or finishing an arrow without the cash. Spend them on staff, not on rushing a shelf; cash always comes back, a faster cashier is permanent. Once every line in the first store is built, the game opens a new location and the loop starts again: counter, shelf, crop, cashier, one line at a time.
